I am a Reverend

I am an ordained Reverend from World Christianship Ministries, and I've been asked to be the officiant at a family friend's wedding this weekend. I was asked last Friday, and given a week to write the ceremony, including the vows. I havent done anyhting on it until this morning. I am at work, which doesnt lend itself to searching the web for ideas, and taking the time to be able to sit with myself, and my heart, and try to come up with some creative, and appropriate content for the ceremony. I was talking to my buddy Aaron on the phone last night, and he said, whydont you just print some shit out off the web, and just read that. And I was like dude, that'd be like you asking me to perform some of my poetry, and I just copied someone else's shit. Well, maybe not exactly, but my point is, they asked me to do the honor of bringing them together in a marriage ceremony. This is a huge deal, and a great honor. They asked me for various reasons, I am thinking it has more to do with the fact that I am available, a friend, and it will be FREE. I also think that they deserve to have something that fits them as a couple, that will be meaningful to them, and somethign that they can look back on and still feel connected to years later. Weddings are things that are said to be some of hte happiest days of our lives, and I feel that it would be a great disservice to them if I were to simply come out with some web printed, canned ceremony, and recite it out of the book.
Especially because I have such strong feelings when it comes to love, and passion, and marriage. So I am working on putting something together that will allow them to relate to it, something that applies to them specifically as a couple, and something that helps to define the moment and the significance of the act of marriage itself. I am a bit worried that time isnt on my side, but I hope that I am able to do them justice, and put something together that will be both emotional, beautiful, fun, and free.
Then I've got to get up there and do a good job at presenting it. Wow, the more I think about it, the more nervous I get. It is quite a challenge.
Once I'm done writing it out, as I will say it, I will see if I can copy and paste it onto my blog and you can let me know what your thoughts are on it.
