An "Alchemist" moment
Alright, so to those of you who aren't familiar with the book, the Alchemist by Paulo Coelho let me give you a bit of background. The Alchemist is a book about the energy of the world, and the voice in your soul, and how the communicate. They say that the more you listen to the voice in your soul, the more the world around you will conspire to help you along your path. Bringing you into contact with someone, teaching you something valuable, and basically doing what is necessary for you to continue on your journey. Once you are aware of this concept, you start to notice when it happens in your life, or in the life of others. Aaron has already had a few instances while he was down in Panama that were perfect examples. He needed a bike, and while shopping for one, ended up running into a guy who had ridden his bike from the north and was heading south to Columbia. He didn't need the bike anymore, but he did need a backpack. The circumstances couldn't have been more perfect, cause Aaron was looking to unload his backpack, and pick up a bike and put his stuff in saddle bags. So, wah-lah. A trade. just like that. Both Aaron and this guy had been following that voice inside of them, and the energy of the world brought them together, to help each continue. Some say it is just a coincidence, or luck, or fate, but the more you believe, the more aware you become, the easier it is to see that more is at work that mere coincidence. There is an even deeper level to that story, about the parting words, "one love" from the guy who traded his bike for the backpack, but I'll spare you that unless you email and ask about it. Well I've been amazed, and excited that so many thing have been falling into place as this trip approaches, and I had a very clear "alchemist" moment today while I was at work. My day started off great, I had an appointment in Pine Grove which is about an hour and a half up into the Sierra Foothills from my work. While I was sitting down and talking with this business owner, John, I told him that I was going to be out of town for a couple of weeks on vacation. He asked me where I was going, and when I said Panama he about fell out of his chair. His business partner was very familiar with Panama, and so John got him on the phone for me, so I could talk to him and pick his brain about some ins and outs that I may need to know. This mans name was also John, and when I got on the phone to talk with him, we chatted for a bit, and it turns out that he is going to Panama a day after me. He gave me the name of the hotel he is staying at, and we are supposed to meet up with him on Sunday. He has a house there along the coast, and knows the roads, and country side very well. I cant wait to meet up with him and find out more. I wouldn't believe it. What are the chances?
Anyway, I walked out of the meeting (with the sale) in the greatest mood. It was a sign to me that I to am doing the right thing, and making this trip, and this whole experience a reality. Life is conspiring to help me too. It was a good day.
